Only Meant to be Friends

This is the first song I've wrote... the others I would only think as poetry, but not entirely lyrics.


From the first day we met,
I look into those eyes.
And they take away my breath each and every time.
I always thought and wondered. "why, why, why?"
At this time.
I thought I was close, but now I know
I surely was not.
Hey, isn't that just so easy to see?
I really gave my all for nothing.
Now I hope you're truly happy with her.

Please don't take her hand.
'Cause it should be me right next to you.
Now I ask why we even met.
If we didn't then I would never be so sad.
Every day and every night with you on my mind.
But I start to only see her,
the one you truly love.

I must be good at hiding my real feelings.
You've always talked just like a friend.
If you knew how I really felt, I wonder
what might happen then,
but I don't want to ruin anything and take that chance.
Counting your steps as you walk towards me,
but you ought to know that just a smile and wave
is more than enough for me.

Dreams and Reality Don't Match

So amazing, I was in awe,
when I looked into those eyes, I couldn't believe what I saw.
Someone so humble, so sweet, and so free.
I hope you don't mind if I give you the key--
the key to my heart and soul.
You know that it's yours forever to hold.

I never thought I could feel so in love,
how was it when you left the place from above?
Real talk, you're the one God sent me.
It was true when they told us we were meant to be.

L-O-V-E, you put meaning into that word.
Mesmerized by your voice whenever it's heard.
You take away my worries and fears,
especially if you're around or near.

Life is a fairytale, doesn't always end in a happy ending.
To be my friend is what you're only pending.

Ring Around the Rosy

How could it be?
That when I said "you're the only one for me."
You had already left, why didn't I see.
Since the start, through those opaque, deceiving eyes.
All that you said were only lies.
How could it be that it took me so long just to realize.

I didn't even encourage what other people had to say.
As I kept on drifting and drifting away.
Closer to you, farther from them.
You're like the flower, I'm the stem.
Holding onto you for far too long.
I thought I was right, but in the end, always wrong.

Surgery Doesn't Hurt

Did you put me on top of the world?
Just so you could crush me to the ground.
You make me feel like just another face in the crowd.
You don't even speak, but yet, you're so loud.
That voice running through my head,
ignoring everything else all those people have said.
Just like losing your sight, I was blind,
but now, I can always say,
"you're mine, you're mine, you're mine."
From the moment I cut both our hearts out,
just so you could be with me forever.
I donated my heart to save another life.
And so then, yours could be mine.
